Using assorted grey, compact charcoal, and willow charcoal,
I drew this image, referencing an illustration created by Brian Froud, on an A3
scale. I roughly sketched it out in pencil then started sketching the tones
using the charcoal. Due to the harsh lines, but tonal aspects, this piece relates
to the works of Leonardo Da Vinci, but still beholds that dark, fantasy feel of
Froud’s work. This drawing expressed the theme I mostly enjoy working with, as well
as displays my way of drawing which is gestured and free, rather than
controlled.
